Burroughs and Burbank Field Renovation Community Campaign

The Burbank Unified School District and the City of Burbank have partnered to install new all weather tracks and new artificial turf infields at both high schools, construct a new restroom facility adjacent to the football field at Burbank High School, and completely renovate the stadium at Memorial Field.   Initial estimates of projected costs approximate $14.2 million.  Combined funding of $2,500,000 from the District and $9,650,000  from the City falls short of the covering the cost of the projects.  Stepping up to the plate to raise $1,000,000 from all who use and enjoy these facilities is Michael Hastings, Chairperson for the campaign which features the theme “Celebrate Gratitude.” Donations may be made payable to Burbank Priority in Education (BPIE), a 501 (c) (3) registered non-profit organization.  Thus, your donations are tax deductible.

Work will begin on the Burbank High field and track replacement and the construction of a new restroom facility to be located near the track in this winter, with completion expected in time for the BHS Centennial in September of 2008.

Following the completion of the football season in November of 2008, work will begin on the Memorial Field project which includes replacement of the track and infield, along with the replacement of stadium seating for both the home team and visitors, as well as new restrooms, concession stands, storage and ticket booths.

Make A Donation To Help Our Students

The following letter went out to parents of Burbank's elementary and middle school students in December 2005.  BPIE is asking for cash donations of any amount to help raise money for Burbank's public schools.  We know that parents are frequently called upon to support schools and classrooms through fundraisers, PTA membership, and many other important events.  BPIE's efforts are not in competition with these events!  Our goal is for the BPIE Foundation to take on larger, District-wide issues.  In fact, that's why we began.  In 2003, the Burbank Unified School District made a very tough call of eliminating school nurses and counselors as a result of reduced State funding.  Our long-term mission is to grow the BPIE Foundation so that it reaches out to all members of the Burbank community interested in creating and maintaining the healtiest and most productive schools possible for our children.  With your help, we'll get there.

Thank you for your support!

BPIE SUPPORTS THE GIRL'S BURBANK HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL TEAM
DEAF STUDENTS BASKETBALL & CHEERLEADER UNIFORMS
With some additional financial assistance from the Burbank Noon Kiwanis Club, BPIE was able to purchase basketball and cheerleading uniforms for deaf and hard-of-hearing students at Burbank High School . This wonderful opportunity was brought to BPIE's attention by the teacher of these students, Michelle Betton. Ms. Betton's students were desirous of participating in a Deaf Basketball/Cheerleading Tournament on May 21, 2005 at University High School but were in need of funds to help pay for the admission fee, transportation and uniforms.

BPIE committed to raising the necessary funding for both the basketball and cheerleading uniforms which was about $1,500. These uniforms were made such that they can be used for many years to come and future students would be able to participate in this very exciting event.

BPIE thanks the Burbank Noon Kiwanis Club for answering the call and helping us make the deaf and hard-of-hearing student's wish a reality. The Kiwanis Club has always risen to the occasion and their community support is much appreciated!
