BPIE ROCKS…AND ROLLS IN MONEY FOR BURBANK SCHOOLS WITH SUCCESSFUL “IN CONCERT” EVENT
On October 2, 2004 , Burbank Priority in Education held its' first-ever fundraising event, “in Concert.” In Concert took place at Burbank 's Starlight Bowl and featured a roster full of musical talents. Hollywood Records recording star Josh Kelley headlined the event, which also included local band BlueLight, the Crosby-Loggins Band, the John Borroughs Power House Choir, and the Burbank High School Vocal Ensemble.

The hard work of BPIE 's diligent volunteers, lead by BPIE founder and former Burbank mayor Michael Hastings, paid off with $27,349 raised by the In Concert event. On November 4, 2004 , BPIE members attended the Burbank Unified School District Board meeting to present $17,300 in donations to Burbank 's public schools. The financial contributions made to each school were based on the number of students, with each school receiving approximately $1.13 per child. Of the balance, $5,000 was set aside for a BPIE grant program and $5,049 will be used as seed money to fund other BPIE programs.
